Foodbank Victoria, Australia’s largest food relief organisation, has been awarded the 2024 Qlik ANZ Digital Transformation Award for ESG-centred App Innovation. Recognised for its pioneering use of Qlik Sense - SaaS (Cloud), Foodbank Victoria has transformed its operations, driving efficiency and better targeting food relief efforts across Victoria.

With demand for food relief growing, Foodbank Victoria has made strides in digital transformation to optimise food distribution. The partnership with Notitia, a leading data and digital consultancy, has enabled Foodbank to move to Qlik Sense - SaaS (Cloud), equipping the organisation with real-time insights and data that support swift, informed decisions, especially in times of high need.

Data-Driven Approach to Food Insecurity

Using Qlik, Foodbank Victoria developed custom dashboards and apps like ‘Neighbourhood Assessments,’ ‘Feed it Forward,’ and ‘Feed it Back,’ which pull data from sources such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Victorian Agency for Health Information. These tools offer valuable, real-time visibility into food insecurity levels across communities, allowing Foodbank to target its relief efforts where they’re needed most.

Kennie Greagen, Applied Research & Innovation Manager at Foodbank Victoria, highlights how these tools have strengthened Foodbank’s capacity: “Our executive team now has real-time access to key data, enabling us to make faster, more informed decisions about food distribution.”

Real Impact and a Model for the Sector

The impact of Qlik’s technology extends beyond operational improvements. According to Alex Avery, Managing Director at Notitia, “Leveraging Qlik has enabled Foodbank Victoria to not only make real-time decisions but also maximise their social return on investment by optimising their food relief distribution.”

Foodbank’s use of Qlik Sense - SaaS (Cloud) is setting a new standard for the sector, proving that charities can leverage technology to meet complex challenges and drive positive change.
