Foodbank Victoria, Australia’s largest food relief organisation, has been honoured with the prestigious 2024 Qlik ANZ Digital Transformation Award for ESG-centred App Innovation.

Foodbank Victoria was celebrated for its innovative use of Qlik Cloud Analytics and food strategy apps in transforming its operations, driving data-driven decision-making, and optimising food relief distribution across Victoria.
Speaking about the win, Foodbank Victoria’s Applied Research & Innovation Manager,Kennie Greagen, said the recognition was testament to the organisation’s commitment to addressing food insecurity through a data-driven approach.

“This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our team and our partners, who have been instrumental in integrating real-time data into our decision-making processes,” Ms Greagen said.
“Digital transformation has enhanced our ability to deliver food to those most in need efficiently.”
Working with Notitia, a leading data and digital transformation consultancy, Foodbank Victoria implemented Qlik Cloud Analytics to streamline its operations.
Alex Avery, Notitia Managing Director, praised the collaboration with Foodbank Victoria.

“Leveraging Qlik has enabled Foodbank Victoria to not only make real-time decisions but also maximise their social return on investment by optimising their food relief distribution."
This included the creation of customised dashboards that provide critical insights into food distribution patterns and social impact, Ms Greagen said.
“The move to Qlik Cloud Analytics has revolutionised our operations,” she said.
“Our executive team now has real-time access to key data, enabling us to make faster, more informed decisions about food distribution, especially in times of high demand.”
Foodbank Victoria also launched a series of interactive tools, including the ‘Neighbourhood Assessments’, ‘Feed it Forward’ and “Feed it Back” apps.
These apps provide real-time visibility into food insecurity, integrating data from multiple sources, such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Victorian Agency for Health Information.
Charlie Farah, Qlik’s Field CTO Analytics/AI, commended Foodbank Victoria’s use of Qlik Cloud Analytics in tackling complex challenges within the food relief sector.
“Foodbank Victoria’s data-driven approach is setting a new benchmark for how charities can leverage technology to maximise their impact,” Mr Farah said.
“By integrating public and internal datasets, they have ensured that food relief is delivered where it’s needed most, quickly and efficiently.
“The use of Qlik Cloud Anlaytics has allowed Foodbank Victoria to not only improve its operational efficiency but also increase its social return on investment by modelling future food distribution scenarios and identifying potential new distribution hubs.”
